The Dinosaur Who Built a Wall

Engaging books for children
“Besides, the little dinosaur thought that this running away from the 'Trex stunt was very boring - they did it so often. He had no idea what the grisly alternative might be because his Mum had never told him, and usually, he only followed his Mum’s orders out of habit.”
  • BOOK SUMMARY

A story for 7-9 year olds set in the great age of the dinosaurs of a young plant-eating dinosaur who dared to think! His name is DVJ. Some alien people landed on earth and gave lessons to the dinosaurs on how to think, but mostly failed and then they flew off. DVJ is tired of running away from the meat-eaters 'T'Rex' and his hostile partner 'Trexie', not to mention Gigantosaurus the biggest and meanest of them all. DVJ plays in the goo beside a lake and soon learns how to make mud bricks, inspired by the thinking lessons of the aliens. He builds a wall which he calls a 'dino-cliff' and hides behind it when the hungry meat-eaters come by. Along the way, he manages to make mud balls and uses them to scare the meat-eaters off, by aiming at them from behind the wall. In doing so, he becomes the champion of the plant-eaters.

The Creatures of the Loch

Engaging books for children
“Peering through the nautilus shell Lauren saw a very big animal with a huge body and four massive flippers, a very long tail and a very long neck. And beside it, there were three more much smaller creatures of the same type. The big one was about fifteen metres long and it was looking at them with grave, dark eyes from its small head. The other smaller ones had retreated to the back of the cavern and were peering out from behind the bigger one.”
  • BOOK SUMMARY

An adventure story for 7-9 year olds of a small girl called Lauren walking with her dog above a Scottish loch. Her dog digs for rabbits but discovers a secret passage which leads down to a hideaway. In the hideaway, she meets the last of the Freshwater Nautili who tell her of the Loch Ness monster and where she can meet it. On meeting the monster - he really is a gentle, mischievous creature though somewhat enormous - they decide to teach a couple of locals a lesson: two lads had been ripping money off tourists telling tales of having seen the monster without actually having seen it and organising trips to view it. They were in for a total surprise when they did actually see it - and with a little girl riding on its head!

Fixed layout and Audio book

Currently our ebooks have been produced as reflowing books. An ebook is similar to a web-page, both in the way that it is coded and in the way it will reflow to fit the screen it is on. A reflowing eBook will re-position the text according to the device it is being viewed on so that it is as comfortable as possible to the reader.

FIXED LAYOUT

We will be creating fixed layout versions of some of the ebooks as they can more control over large illustrations and suit children’s story books well. To put it plainly, the pages of a fixed layout eBook are… fixed! Content (images, text, etc.) will not “flow” across the page if you change your settings, though most devices will allow the reader to zoom in and out.

AUDIO BOOKS

For audio versions of the books we have had the books read by a professional actress and digitised at a recording studio. The intention is to make at least three books available on Amazon and iTunes by the end of April 2017 .
