Tonko Stuurman has led a full and varied life having trekked in many places, sailed over very long distances, walked hundreds of miles and in the meantime managed to get married, bring up two children and train and work as a specialist consultant. Throughout his life Tonko has held a curiosity about the world and thinks constantly about what makes it so fascinating, and so sets out to learn and understand as much as he can. The world becomes even more fascinating as you turn over the stones of technology, and investigate what you find.
Tonko, by using his writings hopes to nurture and grow that childlike curiosity prevalent in young people, and to inject a sense of wonder, imagination and fun into children’s literature.
A strong history of sailing means that Tonko will one day be back sailing across oceans to exotic faraway places, experiencing all the wonders and inevitable frights that the sea will dish up. He wonders why on earth he enjoys pitting his wits against the elements as they do their best to upturn his vessel or drive him onto rocks……perhaps that will become the basis for a novelette.
Glenn has spent many years using his creative talent in the world of graphic design and illustration. He has built a unique and striking portfolio of characters along the way, his work acting as a signature of his style and dynamism. Glenn is at home with the complexities of computer technology in designing websites, in creating animation characters and in branding.
A longstanding interest in diving has taken Glenn to many places under the sea and he has developed a keen interest in underwater creatures. Above all, he has a fascination for sharks which means that his lifelong ambition to cage dive with White Pointers is coming closer to fruition. Maybe there is a fine story to be told afterwards – one which Tonko sincerely hopes has a happy ending – but let’s not pre-empt the telling. Besides, Glenn will be needed for the illustrations and interviews afterwards.
Glenn is married and lives in Reading and for now, he leaves the sharks alone as they patrol their oceans.
